What do parents get out of volunteering?

You get to have a surprising amount of fun, meet lots of other parents and be involved in the decision making of the club.

Why does the club need volunteers?

Nobody at the club is paid. We all help out so that the club is able to run and be the success it is! If we don't have enough parents to help then the club won't exist.

What kind of volunteers do we need?

We appreciate everyone's help and you can give what ever time you are able to. The committee page will give you an idea.

non qualified (anyone can do!) roles include

  • helping on poolside with the lanes.  We have regular helpers, but occasionally we may be short of a helper or a coach so it is really important to have enough volunteers for this role, whether you are a regular helper or can step up in an emergency.

  • timekeeping at Interhouses and club champs (this is basically one or two evenings of your time every 3 months).  If you can operate a stopwatch, can count and don't mind getting splashed by a very fast butterfly swimmer then you would be most welcome!

  • various committee roles.  We meet once a month on a Monday evening. Everyone is welcome to join these meetings.  You get to be involved in lots of decision making.

roles that require some training

  • team managing at swimming meets

  • becoming a qualified timekeeper or judge

The lecturing bit!

We are really struggling to get enough volunteers for Interhouses and some of our committee roles are unfilled.  Many of these roles are filled by parents with older swimmers so we need parents to takeover from us!
